THE FIRST COLLECTION

Find your kind of different.

Ten shapes. Ten personalities. One thoughtfully set table.

Explore ten distinctive plate designs through shape, colour and surface detail.

THE TOUED APPROACH

A seat for the
unexpected.

A curve borrowed from a shoreline. A glaze inspired by the evening sky. A familiar object seen a little differently.

toued explores original plate designs intended for handcrafting. Our first collection starts with ten designs, each with its own shape, texture and character.

TOUED / THE JOURNAL

The thinking behind the forms.

Our story, our design language, and the details that bring the collection together.

OUR STORY

A little more feeling. Every day.

A plate is one of the objects we meet most often and notice least. toued begins with a simple idea: the things we live with can ask us to pause, even for a moment.

We are drawn to a rim that moves like water, a soft corner that recalls folded paper, and colour that changes the mood of a table. These are small gestures, but they give an everyday object a presence of its own.

Our first collection brings together ten distinctive plate designs. They share an interest in expressive form, while leaving room for different tastes, different spaces and unexpected combinations.

THE DESIGN LANGUAGE

Nature, translated into form.

We look to nature for rhythms rather than replicas. A shoreline becomes a moving edge. A pebble suggests an uneven outline. A leaf offers a structure of branching lines.

Tide explores movement through its cobalt wave rim. Moss keeps the silhouette soft and grounded. Olive stretches a botanical pattern across an elongated form. Each begins with something familiar, then changes its scale, curve or texture.

The aim is a collection that feels related without looking identical: sculptural outlines balanced by open centres, and expressive details given enough space to breathe.

AT THE TABLE

Collected, rather than matched.

We imagine a table built slowly, one favourite piece at a time. A soft ivory shape beside deep blue. A rose-coloured curve next to charcoal. Something quiet, and something that starts a conversation.

Try pairing Chalk with Tide for contrast, or Sand with Ember for a warmer palette. Petal and Speckle bring softer outlines into the mix. These are colour and composition ideas, with no single correct combination.

What connects the pieces is not a matching pattern. It is the pleasure of noticing a thoughtful detail in an ordinary moment.

Three ideas we return to.

01 / FORM

Start with the silhouette.

A crescent, a wave, a fold. We give each design a recognisable outline before adding surface detail. The space within the rim matters as much as the edge around it.

02 / SURFACE

Let colour carry the mood.

Ivory offers a quiet starting point; cobalt brings depth; terracotta adds warmth. Speckles, relief and glossy contrasts explore how a surface can catch the eye.

03 / BALANCE

Make room for contrast.

A sculptural rim needs a quieter centre. A deep blue gains character beside warm ivory. We use contrast to give each design its own presence while keeping the collection visually connected.

A few things to know.

What inspires the toued collection?

The collection draws on the rhythms of nature and everyday objects: a moving shoreline, the veins of a leaf, a lunar crescent and the corners of folded paper. Each influence becomes a distinctive silhouette, surface or colour story.

Why do the designs look different from one another?

Each design explores a different starting point, from lunar shapes to folded paper. A shared interest in sculptural edges and expressive surfaces brings the collection together without requiring every piece to match.
